it's eerie that your friends can read you so much better than you can sometimes. and especially when they say things that other people wouldn't dare say & it shocks you. it's so disarming, and then you realize, wow, that they could be right. & i still have not made peace with the end of sophomore year. seriously, what a mind job. & i love getting long distance calls. i love that.
this definitely has been the best summer i've ever had. bittersweet in the end i suppose, but it's necessary. oh, the people that i will miss. |

okay, so my biggest flaw is indecision. & i'm a big drama queen sometimes.
yesterday, matt and melvin went with me to the post office. i picked duke, but i just couldn't hand it in. something pained me so much - i think it was my disbelief that we are graduating, & part of me says i'm not ready. so, i held onto my envelopes and drove to hobby airport only to find they don't have a post office. so matt drops me and melvin back off at home, so i drive with my mother up to bush international airport to get the midnight postmark. i sit there for hours thinking about it, and in the end, i choose UT at midnight. you think the story is over, but it is not.
so i can't sleep that night because i feel so uneasy - as if i dissapointed myself because i always told myself that i needed to get out all by myself to really show myself the door. i know that i can grow up at UT, but i think duke is more for me right now. if i have problems letting things go now, i can only imagine after undergrad when people are getting married and etc. then i would have an even harder time moving away. so now i called duke first thing in the morning, and i tell them and they say they'll still take me. so now i'm going to the post office & later i have to call UT to inform them of my decision. and i definitely cried because i'm so sad to leave, and i haven't even left yet. ridiculous? i think so. i can't really explain it, but last night after i wrote down UT, i just wanted something more already.
it's very hard for me, especially since i know i'll get very home sick, but i think it's something i need to do for myself. |
